Internet not working?

Complete these safe checks before reporting the connection. Do not press the router reset button unless support specifically asks you to.

Safe restart steps

  1. Check whether the router or ONT power light is on.
  2. Check that the power adapter and visible cables are connected.
  3. Switch off the router or ONT.
  4. Wait 30 seconds.
  5. Switch it on again.
  6. Wait three to five minutes.
  7. Try opening a website again.
Do not press reset. Resetting can erase the broadband configuration.

LOS light blinking red?

A red or blinking LOS light generally indicates a fiber signal problem rather than a normal WiFi issue.

Do not do this

  • Do not press the reset button.
  • Do not repeatedly remove the fiber connector.
  • Do not bend, twist or pull the thin fiber cable.
  • Do not keep restarting the device repeatedly.

Speed troubleshooting

Slow speed? Test it correctly.

A WiFi test from another room does not show the actual fiber speed. Test close to the router on 5GHz or preferably through LAN.

Correct speed-test method

  1. Restart the router and wait three to five minutes.
  2. Stand close to the router.
  3. Connect to the 5GHz network.
  4. Pause downloads and disconnect VPN.
  5. Use LAN for the most accurate result.
  6. Run a test on speedtest.net.
  7. Share the screenshot with support.

2.4GHz versus 5GHz

  • 2.4GHz: longer range but generally lower speed.
  • 5GHz: higher speed but shorter range.
  • Walls, distance and device capability affect WiFi speed.
  • A single device can consume substantial bandwidth.

Weak WiFi in another room?

Internet speed and WiFi coverage are different. Coverage depends on router position, walls, floors, interference and the home layout.

Improve router placement

  • Place the router centrally and in an open area.
  • Avoid cupboards, corners and metal obstructions.
  • Keep the router elevated.
  • Use 5GHz nearby and 2.4GHz when greater range is needed.

When mesh or extender may help

  • Speed is good near the router but weak in another room.
  • The home has multiple floors or thick walls.
  • The router must remain at one corner of the property.
